EXPLORING THE INDIGENOUS ROLE IN INTERFAITH DIALOGUE

WORKSHOP SUMMARY
Indigenous spiritual traditions, much older than more established religions, have had a hard time with modernity and religious oppression from the dominant traditions. Over the last 15 years, considerable dialogue has finally opened up between the two different kinds of faith and practice. Our presenters have been active in that discussion, here and abroad. This workshop focuses on the requirements and benefits of good relationships between Earth-based spiritual traditions and established religions.

PRESENTERS
Don Frew and Yoland Trevino

Elder Don Frew, a Wiccan priest, is past President of Covenant of the Goddess, the world’s largest Wiccan organization. He has been an interfaith activist for more than 20 years, including eight years on the Interfaith Center at the Presidio Board of Directors. He has also served on United Religion’s Initiative Global Council and the Religious Assembly of the Parliament of the World Religions since 1993. Projects he has initiated include the “Lost and Endangered Religions Project” and “Sacred Spaces – An International Competition.”

Ms. Yoland Trevino a Mayan with a Hindu practice, is the Chair of United Religions Initiative Global Council. An international consultancy in community organizing allows her to weave together he work and interfaith responsibilities.
